Our worst fears have been realized. As much as I love having professional hockey in DM, I do not know how much support I can give a CHL team if the Schlegels are the owners.

CHL team will have a hard enough time ever making it, let alone if the Schlegels have their hand in the pot...............
The media is laying low for now, but wait till a new team and the Schlegels try to sell us all on something new again............Will this be the 3rd or 4th go around?

Why would ANYONE go to a CHL game when we have the USHL. The on-ice product is about the same-in fact, the USHL is probably the better league. The players are younger but many are NHL bound. The CHL is not a developmental league. Only a very small handful of CHL players have ever gone to the majors-and most of those only played 2 or 3 games in the CHL.
As far as entertainment quality is concerned, the CHL, USHL and other lower minors are all about the same tier. Des Moines in right in the middle of the USHL footprint. We should consider ourselves lucky for it. AHL or nothing.

CHL and professional hockey should not ever be used in the same sentence.
I for one hope I never have to see Kirby's stupid metrosexual ass again. I would think there would have been local interest in the AHL franchise (if there hadn't been serious financial concerns). I don't see how anyone would be dumb enough to throw money in with the Schlegel's on the CHL.

I'm really not interested in CHL. ECHL, maybe. And I don't want anything more to do with this ownership group.
The county should just get the 12.5 mil (or however much of it they can) and call it a day. The Schlegels should be out of the hockey business when this is over, not making money on selling and moving the franchise and giving us some bag of shit in return.

Pretty disappointed today. I was so hoping for a good outcome to this situation but, my faith in being a good AHL Hockey fan is definately being tested. I feel for all of the ticket reps. They did a great job last year trying to turn around the negative bs from the Stars fallout and I felt they were headed in a good direction with the community until the Schlegel's decided that TX is where they really want to have their AHL franchise. There is a part of me that feels like this is just exactly what they(Schlegel's) wanted all along. Unfortunately I feel like the remaining staff needs to work on their resumes and get them out there because, I don't know how much support if any the team will have after this. I haven't posted on here in along time but, I just couldn't sit on my hands any longer. Sad is all I am today. What a kick in the balls and I don't even have a pair. But, apparently neither do the Schlegel's. They suck.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will NEVER go to a CHL game in the Well. Not even for free. They can sell my seats, because I will NEVER, EVER buy them again.

Contact the Polk County Board of Supervisors and let them know that the Schlegels' proposal is BS!! Voice your opinion! Let them know how many CHL games you will (not) attend especially if the Schlegels run the show!

Only way I am buying tickets is for AHL hockey, with an NHL affiliation and owned by people not associated in any way with the Schlegels or business persons in the state of Texas.

The response I received from the board:
"thanks for the email. I appreciate your input into this matter.
I think it's fair to say that the Board is committed to one level of hockey and one level only: AHL triple AAA professional hockey. This is the view not only of Polk County but our management partners, Global Spectrum, as well.
I have nothing against the CHL or any of its fans, players or cities. However, I believe our commitment was to field a triple AAA team and that remains our objective.
The short term of this complicated matter may not look very pretty, but bear with us. Our long term objective is to have a stable NHL affiliated AHL team taking the ice at Wells Fargo. We continue to work with Global, the current operators and the AHL League office to resolve this matter satisfactorily for our taxpayers.

Polk County is saying all the right things. They have a contract with the Schlegels, and if those bozos are incapable of living up to that contract, I hope they stick it to them fully. Then when the stink settles, we can get a new franchise and affiliate in here in a year or two.
The *only* reason the AHL has struggled here is the ineptitude and mis-management of the owners, from day one. They've had the greatest fans a team could ask for and all they did was alienate everyone and make every single mistake they could.
I can't for a minute think that Polk County will go for this bush league (literally) proposition.
